Touring Sedona

Technically we are in an area called either Big Park or Oak Creek depending upon who you speak to about it.  The city of Sedona is a handful of miles north of where we are staying.  We drove along to take in the scenery.

One popular destination is the Chapel of the Holy Cross.  Located on high ground the chapel offers a beautiful vista.  Its care takers keep the grounds around it immaculate.

There are pretty flowers planted around it.  Don't pick the flowers would communicate the message but this one is humorous and probably more effective.

I do not understand why people feel compelled to throw money into fountains, onto rocks, over cliffs and into rivers.  Aside from making a tough cleanup, because this collection of change is on a rock ledge, the metals do not belong in this ecosystem.  If I were granted a wish from these coins it would be for people to stop throwing their money away.  If they want good karma find a worthy charity.

Want a vacation home in Sedona?

This one doesn't belong to Jan and Paul.  It is 8,000 square feet.  You can see the 4 car garage and the pond and all the plant life and gardens in the middle of a desert.  This house reportedly belongs to a Romanian MD who invented Lasik surgery.  If your eyes received that intervention then you own a piece of this house.  The address is 503 Chapel Road.  You can see the guest house next to the lake.

There are lots of resorts in remote locations near here.  We stopped for lunch at one named Enchantment.  I believe you need to be enchanted and wealthy to afford the $500 per person, per night cost (average) to stay there.  Lunch did not require any such spells.  It was affordable.

Another great vista is the airport.  Yes.  The airport.  If you need to land an airplane in an area with lots of huge rocks sticking out of the ground it is helpful to build the runway on top of one of those escarpments.

That's the city of Sedona down below. I did not see anyone trying to locate an avatar for Pokemon at this look out, but just in case there is a restraining fence tucked behind those bushes in the foreground so no one is going to roll all the way to the bottom.

We're resting up this afternoon and then going out on an off road jeep tour at sunset.  Looking forward to seeing these rocks in that light.
